MY BELIEFS AND REFLECTIONS
Building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders is key to ensuring the district vision is well supported. Visibility among staff across the organization through face-to-face connections as well as frequent electronic communications allow for stakeholders to feel supported and valued. Connections with community members, parents and educational partnerships is another key to building successful practice.
Developing this culture of collaboration allows for strong discussions around the emerging use of new learning opportunities, technologies, concerns or issues to be shared and the focus on learner success to in the forefront of all decisions. A leader must be accessible and responsive to the stakeholders by building effective partnerships so that mutual support is recognized and understood. Connecting with stakeholders requires a strong ability to listen to concerns and respond to the needs expressed of team members, other staff, students, parents and community members.
COMMENTS FROM COLLEAGUES
I have always felt that my opinion matters when you ask me for it.
In the absence of other leaders, Mark has maintained high level of learning and technology standards we have become accustomed to in our district.
I always feel heard (very important to me) by Mark, am treated as a fellow professional and encouraged to learn and try more.
I appreciate the time you afford me and the suggestions to best work with the tools we have.
Incredibly strong in this area. You are responsive and inclusive!
~School Assistant Principal
An exemplary leader, strong support system, enthusiastic promoter of new learning resources, new technologies and promoting these for all schools and learners. Very approachable and willing to patiently listen and respond to learning curves of others.
Mark has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the jurisdiction during a time of transition in the leadership level of the Learning and Technology Services Department. You are a work horse who has ensured the quality of leadership continues to be strong in an ever-changing, increasingly demanding portfolio. Hats off to you Mark...you've done an amazing job!
