MY BELIEFS AND REFLECTIONS
Of all the various characteristics a leader needs to possess, integrity sits at the top of the list. Integrity begins before a person is faced with any decision regarding what is right or wrong. Leadership integrity is best demonstrated through example. I seek to model integrity in all that I do and promote it through my relationships with others.
I understand the importance of overseeing the creation and implementation of district policies and procedures. At times, this includes reminding stakeholders or assisting enforcement of those policies and procedures to ensure that educational and division staff and programs are consistent with social, legal and ethical decision making. My practice needs to model these areas through high integrity and professional conduct while ensuring there is appropriate considerations for fairness and honesty. Understanding and being proactive towards relevant issues is required. This includes responsible use of financial resources, hardware resources and energy-savings practices. My duties as a leader would include ensuring equitable access for deployment of all learning resources for all students and staff. This approach must be consistent, regardless of any one school, location or grade configuration. Ultimately it must be based on educational needs.
